The Canadian CPA profession and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) profession are negotiating a new agreement on how members of the profession can obtain each other`s name. To enable negotiations, the national bodies representing the professions concerned have agreed to withdraw from their existing Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA). Any new agreement will facilitate further entry into the profession while ensuring the protection of the public interest by maintaining standards of access to each profession at the appropriate level. In support of the government`s vision, we have signed a long-term strategic partnership agreement with the prestigious local audit association of the United Arab Emirates (AAA) – to improve the financial sector in the United Arab Emirates, by: each is committed to promoting the global mobility of accountants and continuing to find ways in their respective denominations for internationally trained professional accountants. We will continue to keep all members informed of the status of our reciprocity agreements. A list of all current mutual agreements regarding CPA Canada is available HERE and for ACCA HERE. An MRA is a mutual recognition agreement that allows qualified members of both institutions to become members of the other body and enjoy the benefits that both denominations can offer. It also means offering members greater international recognition and mobility. The MRA does not apply to students, individuals who obtained their ACCA through another MRA, or ACCA members who do not have a post-graduate license. NOTE: Due to the termination of the agreement and the expected size of applications, we recommend that you begin the admission process under this MRA as soon as possible. Processing times may vary depending on the volume. Any new agreement between us will define the continuation of entry into the profession while ensuring that the public interest is protected by maintaining entry standards for entry into the profession at the appropriate level.
